Exam revision plan template for the final weeks

By the Reefwatch editorial team · Updated 12 August 2026 · 5 minute read

An exam revision plan is different from a normal weekly study routine. As the assessment gets closer, the plan should move from finding gaps to practising questions, fixing repeated mistakes and doing lighter review near exam day.

Quick answer

Use four phases: diagnose what you know, repair weak topics, practise under exam conditions, then taper into lighter recall. Keep sleep, food and breaks in the plan instead of treating them as optional.

The four-phase exam plan

PhaseMain jobUseful tasks
1. DiagnoseFind the gaps.Topic checklist, short mixed quiz, marked paper section.
2. RepairFix the highest-value weak areas.Targeted practice, teacher feedback, worked examples.
3. PractiseUse the knowledge under exam-style conditions.Timed questions, past-paper sections, corrections list.
4. TaperKeep material warm without burning out.Short recall, formula checks, error-list review, bag prep.

Keep pressure visible but manageable

Ofqual's student guide on coping with exam pressure encourages practical strategies for managing test and exam anxiety. A revision plan should reduce uncertainty, not turn every evening into an emergency.

The NHS also notes that planning time can help students keep track of work, while sleep, movement and talking to someone matter when stress becomes hard to manage. See the NHS page on student stress for support advice.

Generate a dated plan

Templates are useful for thinking, but a dated calendar is easier to follow. My Study Plan can place these phases into actual study blocks based on your available time, subject importance, confidence and exam dates.

Build your exam plan: add your subjects and deadline dates, then download the result as PDF or calendar events.
