By the Reefwatch editorial team · Updated 16 September 2026 · 6 minute read

A-Level Psychology revision can become a stack of studies, theories and evaluation points. A useful timetable separates knowledge recall from evaluation, research methods and timed writing.

Quick answer

An A-Level Psychology revision timetable should rotate topic recall, key studies, evaluation points, research methods, issues and debates, and timed exam answers. Build retrieval and essay practice into the week from the start.

What to rotate each week

AQA A-Level Psychology 7182 has updated content for first teaching from September 2025, with first AS exams in summer 2026 and A-level exams in summer 2027. Students on other exam boards should check their own specification, but the revision split is similar: knowledge, application, evaluation and research methods.

Two-week A-Level Psychology timetable

  1. Days 1-2: Paper 1 topic recall, then one applied or short-answer question.
  2. Days 3-4: approaches, biopsychology or research methods, with data questions.
  3. Day 5: issues and debates or optional-topic evaluation.
  4. Day 6: timed essay plan or full answer, then mark-scheme repair.
  5. Day 7: catch up and rewrite one weak evaluation paragraph.

Separate AO1 and AO3 practice

If you only memorise content, essays can become descriptive. If you only memorise evaluation, answers can lack accuracy. Plan separate recall and evaluation sessions, then combine them in timed answers later in the week.

Schedule research methods little and often

Research methods is easier when it appears every week, not just before the exam. Add Psychology to My Study Plan and include one short research-methods slot alongside topic revision and essay practice.
